UPE History

In 1967, UPE won recognition and endorsement from the ACM Executive Council:
The Association for Computing Machinery has endorsed the UPE concept and has agreed to encourage its spread to other universities through student chapters of the ACM.
In 1992, UPE received formal endorsement by the Board of Governors of the IEEE-CS:
Moved that the Board of Governors of IEEE Computer Society endorse Upsilon Pi Epsilon as a honor society for the computing sciences.
Chapters have been chartered at colleges and universities in departments offering degrees in computing-related disciplines, including departments of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Computer Information Systems. More information on starting an Upsilon Pi Epsilon chapter may be found here.
